Supportive mycelium

Some time ago I wrote about mycelium. Here is another piece along similar lines, though it’s more philosophical than scientific. I love the idea of an organism that provides an ecosystem of support! Here is my favorite passage:

Envisioning a human society that mirrors the supportive dynamics of mycelium prompts a model characterized by profound empathy and collaboration. In such a community, individuals would possess a heightened awareness of one another’s needs and challenges. During crises, responses would be both rapid and collective, ensuring that no individual endures hardship in isolation. The equitable distribution of resources would nurture a robust sense of community and mutual assistance. In this proposed society, the emphasis on empathy and collaborative support would create a resilient and nurturing environment.
