Fall colors
I grew up in New England, and for as long as I can remember it has been my favorite time of year. The changes in the air, the colors, and the sound and smell of leaves crunching under foot.
It’s different in Chicagoland. For one thing, we have different trees here. Instead of the iconic maple tree with its riot of colors, we have more subdued colors like the beautiful brown oak leaves (at top), and cheery yellow ginkgo leaves. The air doesn’t have that dry crisp spicy smell, either.
I have really come to love it here, but I think Fall in New England remains my favorite. Here, summer – with wide open blue skies and gorgeous Lake Michigan – is my favorite time of year.
Where do you live, and what is your favorite season?
