Going Tubular – Lesson 2

The weather has been warm and it was a pleasure to be in the shop.

After making multiple tubes (Module 1) I finally cut my first seat (Module 2)! Figuring out the bur took a hot minute – the photos reflect the third attempt bc I filed the first ones down after butchering the edge.

I feel increasingly comfortable handling the burs and evaluating how much material to remove, though I still need more practice.

The seat looks like the right height so when I’m fresh tomorrow I’ll attempt the undercut.

The tube doesn’t look completely symmetrical so I have to fuss with that too. Still, I’m enjoying the practice!
