Our first house in this neighborhood had mature landscaping, including a bush that bloomed yellow in the Spring. For a long time we thought it was Forsythia, but it turns out that it’s Witch Hazel, and it blooms even earlier than the Forsythia.
When we moved into our new house, there was no planting at all. But this one one of our first picks. After a long Chicago winter, it’s always exciting to see those first tantalizing signs of Spring!
On my morning walk I saw some crocuses popping through to the sunshine, too. Yay!
