Variscite ring

Before dinner last night, I snuck out to my shop in the garage and finished setting this ring that I started last weekend. I am really happy with how it turned out, though in reality is has little to do with my metalsmithing, and much more to do with the beauty of this variscite cabochon from Turquoise Moose.

Turquoise Moose calls this Large Deep Green, Mint Green Lake Variscite.

I am loving this ‘open shank’ style ring band, and so happy that I can consistently reproduce very clean soldering with the techniques I learned from Rosy Revolver’s online classes.

Here it is on my wrinkly old lady hand, so you get a sense of these size. Big, but not enormous like some of the other pieces I’ve made lately.
