New texture plates

It’s been months, but I finally got around to bolting my rolling mill table down to the concrete floor. One of my favorite techniques. 💕

Also cool to see how much my execution has improved in the year since I started metalsmithing. I learned a lot at Lillstreet Art Center, but since then I’ve watched a ton of YouTube and taken a few online classes that have really helped me improve what I can do.

I purchased these plates, and they are still a lot more refined and deep than what I can make myself. But, I know I’m just at the beginning of my learning journey on this so I’m going keep trying. It costs so little to purchase the cold-rolled steel and the etching materials (less than $5 a plate), and anywhere between $30 and $65 to purchase them pre-made. So, definitely worth investing the time to learn!
